I've been dragging and saving various images of interiors on my computer for some time now. For awhile they hadn't been much more than a mindless hobby, but since I am actually moving to a new house soon (!!!) they seem relevant. Well, relevant if I was moving into a large, modern home in the Malibu hills with an unlimited decorating budget, but hey, semantics.

Going through my collected set of photos, I realized a theme; stripes used in home decor. Sounds strange I know, but the result is chic, modern with a quirky twist. I'm not sure I have the energy to tackle a whole wall, but picking up a striped rug can't be too difficult to accomplish.

While sequins are slightly ho hum these days, my magpie instincts are still searching for sparkle. However this time around, I'm not looking for metallics, but rather rainbow confetti. Its cheerful, cheeky and just childish enough. Whether on nails, or barrettes, I need some rainbow pizazz in my life pronto.

A few of the above options include Deborah Lippman's Happy Birthday polish, Bando's Sequin Party Clip, or J.Crew's Bowdelaire flats. But I have my own diy complex so I will be attempting a little bedazzling of my own.

I got rainbow Vogue collections, and my Joann's sequins all ready to go. Only question left is what wouldn't look better with some confetti sequins? We shall see what I come up with.

Motorcycle Boots

I've been on the lookout for motorcycle boots for some time now. Not just any motorcycle boots, but the perfect pair. Not too tall, not too stiff, kinda slouchy but not 80's looking, just rugged enough...the criteria goes on and on.

Oh happy day, I found them, the perfect boots! And they were on Free People's website (discount! Even better!). Oh, wait, I can't wear the size 10 they have in stock.

But alas, I was able to track them down on Solestruck.com, and now those bad boys are all mine.

And I couldn't resist posting a few photos of how I plan to wear them now, and moving into spring.

Maybe it's my job in the Wedding Design world, or maybe it's maturity creeping up on me, but either way I am suddenly....gasp!...liking lace! Usually associated with frilly girly girls, doilies, and old maids (three things I do not readily associate with myself), these days lace has taken a turn for the chic. While the patterns vary from delicate Chantilly to bold florals, what remains consistent are the colors; black and nude. Period. To stay modern, keep the hem high and the fit snug. With the seductive nature of the fabric and an abbreviated length, a high neckline provides just enough balance to keep things from verging on tramp. Perfect for a night out, right? Or perhaps New Years Eve? Oh, wait that sounds familiar! Stay tuned to find out why....

The word "monogram" does not usually come in the same sentence as chic, dare say modern. And while I do not consider myself a girl who favors a preppy sensibility, I have always been drawn to letters. No, no not just letters. My letters. That is my personal trio of initials. I will be the first to admit I like my name on things. From rings to room decor, it makes my things mine. My signet ring, and engraved initial pendant are by far the most frequently worn jewelry items I own. These days there are more ways than an embroidery machine to make things personal. Although monogramming can be tragically housewife, keep things current and youthful by adding unexpected elements, imperfect touches, and off-kilter details. It's all in the mix my friends.

First off, Sarah Chloe. Focusing on monogrammed metal, the website offers earrings, bracelets, and a plethora of necklaces. One of the best aspects of Sarah Chloe is the price; offering jewelry in gold vermeil and sterling silver, many of their items are under $100! My favorites include the Engraved ID Bangles (right), and Diamond Initial Bangle (below). But my real lust object? The Delicate Script Monogram. I'd wear this bad boy on a long chain, layered with my favorite pendants. Too bad that whole "under $100" thing doesn't apply to this guy. Hmpf.

Second stop; Jennifer Fisher Jewelry. Coming in at a slightly higher pricepoint, the site allows you to pick from a huge range of charms, pendants, and chains to mix and match your perfect jewelry piece. There is something for everyone, from engraved pendants, to gothic letters, to initial crests. And if the investment prices aren't quite working for your budget, the website also showcases pre-edited charm groupings to inspire you to recreate one of their combos with more affordable charms you can find at other stores. My picks include the Fly (right), Mini Skull (left), and Gothic Letter Earrings (below).

But most of all, I'm loving the Max Necklace combo (below). While it is not something I can afford ($8100, yow), the eclectic mix provides great inspiration for something I can be re-created with my own charms. The black pearls, rose gold, yellow gold, and dark stones create a mix that is organic, modern and just creepy enough. I highly suggest checking out the Ideas section to whet your own jewelry palette.

To sum up, update your jewelry look by adding a personal touch, whether it is your own name, or selecting the perfect charms that speak to your own personality. And who said monograms were preppy?

Ah, the holidays; tis the time for twinkling lights, christmas cookies and running into your entire high school at the local bar. No? Is that just Conestoga? I digress. Along with all the holiday spirit comes gifts! It can be daunting to buy gifts for others, when you want to get them something that is unique but useful, special but affordable. Oy. But along with buying gifts for others comes receiving gifts as well. While we like to think our loved ones instinctually know exactly what we want, we sometimes need to give them some tips. It was brought to my attention that some people (read: 20 something girls) don't know what to put on their holiday wish list. Thankfully/sadly I never run out of things I want. So here is my list of what I am asking for this year, and a few things I already have but highly recommend. Large and in charge is how I like my jewelry, so a dainty, delicate item does not get much play with me. Nicole Richie's jewelry for House of Harlow is modern, clean and unique. Perfect for a night out, this ring combines gold with a unique color mix. And it's huge!

Henri Bendel; Debutante Asymmetric Mock Croc Clutch
First of the items on this list I already own- Bendel's Asymmetric clutch. Its simple in shape, a perfect size, has a chain strap you can use if you fancy, tons of colors...basically its a perfect clutch. Perfect. 4 stars.

Nintendo Wii
Ok, I may be a little behind the times, as the last time I had a gaming system was Nintendo 64. And that was actually my brother's. I'm ready to relive my youth with some Wii.

I actually was not a MAC makeup fan until recently. I would wander into Sephora, sometimes getting an old standby (NARS Orgasm), or sometimes spontaneously trying a new product (Diorshow). But after going to a MAC makeup event with my trusty makeup-mentor Nicole, I am now a believer. I can't stop! And there is always something else to get (I need green eye shadow right?). A gift card allows me to buy whatever it is I find I just NEED to add to my makeup collection.

Anthropologie; Tuxedo Duvet Cover
As the weather drops, what better way to cope than in a new sumptuous duvet? This is the other item on this list I already own. Just girly enough, with a hint of over the top.

lululemon
Another recent obsession of mine; lululemon. Their workout gear is not only the most comfortable stuff ever, it's fashion-y; as far as spandex goes. The cuts, colors, and details add special touches to gym clothes to make you feel great, even when your sweating out copious amounts in Bikram yoga. Just me? I have a few favorites that I highly recommend, such as the Cool Racerback-perfectly fitted but doesnt cut into you; or the Boogie Short- just what I need for spinning or yoga. But the item I want is the Community Jacket in coral color. Great color, and stylish enough to make me actually want to work out. Talk about motivation.

Tod's; Gilded Herringbone
I have my sister to thank for my new love of Tom's shoes. One walk in her tiny shoes, and I was convert. Comfy, cute and humanitarian, I think everyone should own a pair. While I am still rocking my linen ones (eh, its still summer in my mind), for colder months I'm switching to the Herringbone version. Oh, but not the classic color- GOLD. What else do you expect from me?

Petite, brunette, clearly interested in fashion...it can't be too far off, right? She may be flying under the radar these days, but Bilson definitely makes the rounds in the fashion circuit. Snapped front row at the recent fashion weeks of New York and Paris, Bilson apparently can do no wrong when it comes to dressing. She takes risks, but stays true to her sensibility, working current trends but always with her own confident spin. Bilson manages to look pulled together but never over-styled. AND, she seemingly has the just-messy-enough hair down pat. Le sigh, so maybe I don't have brown eyes, but there are some similarities, no? At least a 2nd cousin once removed.

Yes, it's been awhile. Somehow updating my blog has slipped from it's high priority post in my life recently. But here I am! And, hopefully this is inspire me to post more frequently, get back in the habit. As fashion week just ended in New York, I've been finally catching up on the shows, and weeding through the trends. While the shows were displaying looks for Spring, the fashion savvy know that working the new trends into our current Fall looks is what keeps one ahead of the sartorial game. And while the 90 degree weather tomorrow may lead us to think otherwise, the cooler temps of fall are on the way. While jeans are great, why not change it up with some other pantalones this fall? Whether its dark and slouchy, boldly patterned, or vibrantly colored, pants are here there and everywhere. As long as the fit works for your body type, (and hopefully you know what that is by now), why not try a statement pair? And, since many of the styles were on the looser side, you get comfort with style; perfect match.

I created this shirt the other day, using a similar technique to the previously posted grey one. This coral top features vertical ruffles down the outer edges of the front.

With so much on the front, the back is simpler, with a basic racerback.

I would tuck this into high waisted shorts, or jeans perhaps to give some shape.

As I as perusing through the style.com photos of the most recent fashion shows of Resort 2011, I couldn't help but fall in love with everything in Erin Fetherston's collection. While still maintaining her typical feminine aesthetic, Fetherston showed a more daytime vibe in her resort looks. Paired with slim black trousers, and fun panama-style hats, the silk tops and dresses were tempered down to work wonderfully for day. I love the sweetheart necklines, thin belts, and red/black/tan color palette of the collection, and would wear almost every piece, right now. I wonder if she's hiring?

Lusting: J.Crew Jewelry

Once known for it's prepster staples, the J.Crew of today is increasingly growing into a verified "cool" store. As one of the last people to proclaim myself as preppy, even I am recently going gaga over everything J.Crew is puttin' out there. Top of my list? The jewelry. While the items are not quite as wallet friendly as say, the free catalogs they put out, the pieces could fit easily into any girl's accessory collection. The jewelry is edgy, modern and chic, without a hint of lime green and pink. Thrown over a simple tee, these necklaces could make even Hanes look high-class. I am planning to attempt a recreation, seeing as $300 for a necklace is not something I am looking to spend in my current unemployed state. Further details to come on the Emily Farina version. But be on the lookout for similar styles in other stores, I imagine the look will hang on through the fall. Happy be-jeweling!

Latest DIY Project: Ruffled Sandals

I've been planning to create some sandals using my floral/ruffle techniques from my collection for the Cornell Design League Fashion Show. I was going to purchase a cheap pair to try it out on, however did not find quite the right shoes. This pair of GAP sandals I got somewhere a couple of years ago at a vintage store (whoever considered GAP vintage I do not know), and they have been sitting in my closet ever since. Last night while lying in bed it occurred to me they were the perfect shape for my little project. Here are the results...

Current Closet Favorites: June

While unpacking my college attire, it has come to by attention that I own way too many articles of clothing. However that doesn't mean I give them all equal treatment, au contraire. There are always those items that get worn again and again when in a certain mood/frame of mind. Now that summer is here, the frame I am in, is a mix of worn-in, and glitz. Here are some of the items I currently have in high rotation and/or looking forward to wearing asap.

1. Bright tangerine loose button down top; purchased at Salvation Army.
2. Matte Watch Sunglasses; purchased in the men's department of Urban Outfitters:
3. Straw Fedora; purchased on the streets of the West Village last summer, after a particularly rowdy brunch.
4. Levi's; purchased at Salvation Army, that were cut, ripped and bleached by yours truly.
5. Urban Outfitters Tank; neon yellow, perfect compliment to a tan.
6. Vintage pendant; purchased at Green Eyed Lady in West Chester.
7. Friendship bracelet!
8. Vintage bracelets; gold purchased at Green Eyed Lady, turquoise purchased in Paris.
9. Sparkle Studs; purchased at Urban Outfitters.
10. Cream bag; I am currently putting a gold chain strap on this; purchased from H&M.
11. Berkenstocks; say what you will, but these shoes are darn comfy, and I think with the right outfit can look even chic.

While I acquired items from all over; from Europe to the men's section, what they have in common is that they all bring a carefree, laid back attitude...and make use of one of my favorite things; COLOR! I suggest trying a mix of bright colors, with faded denim and sparkley jewels from a perfect high and low look for summer.

The neon trend has been hanging on for awhile now. However, the color is now moving into more elegant territory, and becoming a go-to color for a classy night out. Whether in yellow, orange or pink, the neon nighttime dress is a great mix of sass and class. I don't have straight hair. I don't have curly hair. I'm not even sure you could call it wavy; it's straight in some spots, gets waves in others. All in all, it does it's own thing. In the many years since I have learned how to style my hair, I have opted for the curling-iron-waves over the pin-straight-straightener look. Creating curls with a curling iron adds body to my thin hair, while also adding some va-va-voom-ness to my look, (hey, anything thing that makes me look older than 16 helps). However....the big However. I do not curl my hair the traditional way: clip in the ends and wind up to the root. Too poodle-y. Rather I utilize a method I saw years ago in an Olsen Twin beauty clip (don't ask). I have attempted to explain this method to others, but it always helps to see a demo. I stumbled across this video on DailyCandy, and found it showed exactly how I do my hair! So I thought I'd share it here, so anyone who has ever asked me how I make my waves: this is it; hello waves.

Online Shopping: Ruche and Need Supply Co.

As I am always looking for new ways to waste time online, so anytime I find a new online shopping locale I get pretty excited. Two new sites have recently come to my attention, that are both full of great spring items, and best of all, they are also affordable!

First is Ruche. The clothes are new, but they are all vintage inspired. Lots of soft, subtle colors, ruffles, florals and a touch of patchwork. The clothes reminded me a lot of Anthropologie... but cheaper. I found the selection perfectly suited for a springtime romantic look. But, if you're like me, and can't handle anything too sugary sweet, I would recommend mixing the florals with some stripes, metallics or studs (metal or male).

Secondly, is Need Supply Co. Don't be thrown by the random name, this site is chock full of on-trend items, and more than a few which are scandalous enough to push the envelope. I love the selection of jewelry and bags, as well as the unique sandals and shoes. This website reminded me of NastyGal in the most wonderful way possible...another favorite site of mine.

We've all heard the saying, everything old is new again. And in fashion that saying is ever so relevant. Who can forget friendship bracelets from yesteryear? Or if you're friends with me and my friends at home, we make these little numbers, every summer. Still. At age 22. Don't judge. Anywho, newcomer jewelry brand, Frieda and Nellie, takes the embroidery string/floss/whatever you call it, into the future. Combining the brightly colored string with vintage costume jewelry, the bracelets and necklaces are a perfect combo of glitz and crafts. While $150 may be a tad high for some of these, I love the idea, and might have to try out my own version of this. God knows I have enough floss. Time to whip out the chevron and give it a whirl.

Color Craving: Lemon Yellow

Pants pretty much go with anything, but since it's still a little cool out, I would recommend a a blazer or cardigan over a sliky tank or something of the like, and then a scarf thrown on top. Rather than reach for a classic springy skirt, try rolling up the cuffs of pants you already own for a different look. A little tip for rolling up the bottoms, go for a haphazard, relaxed roll, rather than the stiff straight across folds to keep the look current (as seen second from the left).

While attempting to research men's fashion, I was perusing GQ.com. While it offers advice to men on a wide range of topics ("Brooklyn Decker is Still Hot for Us", and "44 Things You Need to Know About Wine" were awfully tempting), GQ also takes the sartorial cake on style advice. Boys, if you have a style question I bet it is answered by The Style Guy, and if you want some fashion inspiration The GQ Eye has you covered on fashionable people, events, and products. In my little visit to GQ today, I found a few articles particularly pertinent to the men in my life, and felt inclined to share said newly acquired knowledge here and now. Enjoy, take notes.

Cornell Design League Show 2010; "Fancy Free"; shoes

Before I had even designed the clothing for my line, I knew I wanted to make colorful, big shoes to match. My plan with these shoes was to make it look like the model had stuck her feet in a flower bed and pulled them out with flowers still attached. But rather than using flowers to get the look, I made poms with different fabrics. The result is pure happiness; at least for me.

Named Preppy With a Pop, the collection channeled a girl the show notes described as a young Katharine Hepburn, someone combining an East Coast pedigree with a touch of sass. It takes sass to wear your camel shawl-collared cardie over a skirt made of gray leather paillettes, or to pull on a pair of OTK duck boots. The collection ably ticked off Hilfiger's checklist of classics (the peacoat, the trench, the pencil skirt), but now they had a youthful little twist. Something entirely new? No, but a welcome and necessary refresh.

Who knew Tommy Hilfiger could be so hip? I had come to expect flags and americana, but this collection was classic with modern updates; over the knee duck boots sound PERFECT for Cornell weather. "East Coast pedigree?".....I've never been so proud to go to an ivy league school. Sad? maybe.

Ah, panic sets in; my palms are getting sweaty, my leg starts to twitch, I can just hear my alarm now, waking me up after 4 hours of sleep and calling me back to the studio....

Being the Shopbop devotee that I am, I am constantly checking the website, not only for new merchandise, but for inspiration. While the clothes themselves are amazing, what makes the shoppinh experience stand apart, is that they showcase every clothing item on a model, styled with of-the-moment accessories. While I may not own that specific black Elizabeth and James dress (that costs $300), I do own a similar one, and am able to look up how I should try to wear it, and with what other items I own. Shopbop also is near and dear to my heart due to their lookbooks. A combination of store and magazine, the website posts frequent photos of how to wear the newest trends, what to pair them with, and of course where to buy it all.

The ultimate closet for this winter showcases 14 different pieces, and how all these items can be rearranged in different ways to make 12 amazing, unique and perfectly on-trend outfits. As with the rest of the website, the items are often on the pricier side, especially for a college budget. However, what I find most important is the inspiration and ideas that these looks can generate. I'm sure everyone has a few well-fitting simple, staple items in their closets, and sometimes all you need is a fresh combination to make them seem new again.

Time has flown by in 2009, and fashion waits for no (wo)man, so the time is ripe to learn (or refresh yourself with) the trends presented at the Spring 2010 runway shows. The time has come in our world where men can no longer claim that they have no clue about fashion. Ok, let me rephrase, they can claim that they have no clue, but they cannot claim to have no way to GET a clue. So here we have the menswear blog. I picked two to highlight that I found to be fashion forward, intriguing, and very unintimidating for the fashion newbie.

First off, we have The Sartorialist. This blog is composed of street style images from around the world, mostly in our most fashionable cities. Men and women are depicted from all ages, walks of life and style views. If the fashions of these real life people don't fascinate you (and I can't see why they wouldn't), the pictures themselves are quite the anthropology study on their own.

Next is, brace yourself for this name, 00o00. The blog features lots of images, many of fashion editorials and shows. Pictures include magazine scans such as shown below, as well as celebrity photos in various fashion articles. The pictures may be a little more ambitious style wise then many males dress as, but are none the less great for ideas and inspiration.

Both of these blogs link to many others that offer all sorts of fashion ideas, advice and shopping. While they may not entice so far as to warrant an everyday check when you wake up, but at least let you know that mens fashion sites exist and are hot and ready to be read, and here are a few others to check out if you are feeling ambitious:

Holiday Wishlist

It's that time of year when people tend to give us things. Which means we need to know what to ask for. While there are many items one may hope for for the holidays (cough, camera, cough), wardrobe additions are the gift that keeps on giving throughout the season. That being said, I have complied a few items that I would love to open this year for christmas, and will hopefully give you some ideas of what to put on your own wishlist for the holidays. Anddddd, bonus, now you know what to buy me!

1. Bustier; these little numbers work wonders on any figure, and are actually super flattering, assuming you get the right size, and pairs perfectly with a high waisted skirt for a holiday party or night out. Urban has them in many a color and pattern.

2. Nighttime Shorts; I've been looking for a perfect pair of shorts to wear out at night, and while it's easy to find them for an arm and a leg, not so easy on the cheap. Urban has this silky black pair, I would wear with a shirt tucked in, tights-possibly patterned and booties. As long as it is a winter/evening appropriate material, shorts are a great alternative to skirt for winter.

3. Serious Heels; This shoe is just so badass I can't get over it. I think this is the perfect shoe for New Year's Eve. Not much more to say, I'm sure your already convinced of it's amazingness.

4. Feather Skirt; Simple color, unique texture, feathers add that extra sumpin' sumpin'. I would wear it exactly as this dashing young dame is, with a loose white tee and some jewels.

5. The Baggy Tee; Quite the basic, a baggy loose tee is a current essential in the modern female's wardrobe. However, many a friend of mine do not own such items (you know who you are who have borrowed from me). I am a sucker for all things tee, but I recommend having at least a white and black version; dressed up or down you will wear this all the time. BDG from Urban has tons of colors and styles. But really you can find this a lot of places, if nothing else just buy a normal tee two sizes too big.

6. Utility Jacket; I have been wanting a big military jacket like this since the fall. The color and style are very menswearish but worn with some big jewelry and a girly shirt it's the perfect juxtaposition.

7. Fresh Shades; The weather may be blah, but you can still keep things bright and cheery in these sunglasses. Totally unexpected and will put a smile on anyone's face, that is if they can see you from behind their giant puffy jacket as they trudge to class. At Cornell at least.

8. The Muff!; These things need to make a comeback. So classic, and practical too. This one even has an attached chain so you don't have to hold it! Very holiday, one horse open sleigh.

Winter Boots to Buy: Over the Knee

Now that winter is officially here; the weather report for Ithaca at 9am today was 14 degrees, feels like 4; I can no longer wear my minnetonkas everywhere. Enter the over the knee boot. Once relegated to strippers (Pretty Woman), and dominatrixes (what's the plural for that?; dominatrices?), over the knee boots are the new style of this winter. Seen way back when on Serena in Gossip Girl, now the trend suddenly seems more relevant. Not only is this style of boot a little saucy, they are actually very practical; you could trudge through some pretty deep snow in these puppies. Perfect for Ithaca!

Anyway, over knee boots look equally great with jeans, leggings or tights and a skirt, and can go for day to night; talk about multi-tasking. And for those of you who think your too short for them- well I'm not the one to ask, because I have a pair and I don't care if I'm too short because I love them anyway.

While I am partial to the Chinese Laundry Top Boot (what I have), you can also get Serena's pair; The Turbo, also Chinese Laundry. Steve Madden has a bunch of both high heel and flat over the knee boots as well. This is the perfect style to stay warm, and remain fashionable; so many dreams come true in Ithaca.

Mary Kate and Ashley are once again launching a clothing and accessories line. Currently the duo has The Row, and Elizabeth and James under their designer belts, and are now branching into department stores. Yes, you read that right, the new line from MK&A will be available at JCPenneys. Titled "Olsenboye", the line is targeted at juniors and will consist of sportswear and accessories, all retailing between $20 and $50. While many of the items seem a little iffy for a college student (do I really want a plaid shirt with olsenboye graphic across the back?), there are some pieces that could work into a trendy wardrobe. My picks are the denim leggings and slouchy tees, (I can handle a peace sign, not so much a brand name). All in all, I would have to say I'm underwhelmed, but the Olsen can't do it all, can they? I recently have become entranced by Wildfox Couture. If you haven't heard of them, it is a knitwear brand born out of cali by two friends. Inspiration comes from native american artwork and vintage rock and roll. If that's not enough to rev your fashion engines, the styling of the clothes will surely put a smile on your face; with vampire fangs, bedroom hair and lots of eye liner these should probably be careful around these girls. I want to be invited to a party like that.

Everything is perfectly undone, with saucy little sayings, and printed on all sorts of crazy colored shirts, from neons to pastels. You can purchase straight from their website, as well as many others. Just google it. I'm eyeing the horoscope tees, as well as the math sucks shirt. How very Cornell of me.

I'm on the lookout for a an oversize army jacket for fall and into winter. Not only will it be easy to layer under these suckers, they have plenty of pockets to hold phone, keys, wallet, and will protect you from the elements (which in Ithaca is quite bad). Forever 21 has a few cheap options, as well as Shopbop.com on the pricier end of the spectrum. I'm gonna hit Salvaton Army first and see what they're packing. Salvation ARMY, ARMY jacket; they should have them right? We'll see.

Recent Closet Additions

After a long (four hour) journey home for fall break, it was time for a little r & r; retail replenishment, and where else is better than the good ol' King of Prussia Mall? Ok, New York, Paris..., there are many better places to shop, but as far as the Main Line goes, all hail KOP. While I must admit I do not need many items added to my clothing repertoire, it never hurts to update things a bit at the start of a new season. Now that things in our dear U.S. of A. are slightly less than parfait on the economic front, multi-tasking is of the utmost importance. The multi-tasking I'm talking about is in fact of my wardrobe items. No more will I spend oodles of cash on something to wear once, no ma'am, the time is ripe for items that can transcend from dawn till drunk. This trip to the mall I was searching out some trendy items that will look fresh for the fall season, as well as some basics that I can wear non-stop, and (hope) no one will notice. As I said, I'm trying to keep things light on the wallet here, so I hit up two stores that won't break the bank; Forever21 for trends, and American Apparel for basics.

1. My recent class-attending wardrobe has consisted of skinny jeans, drapey thin tees, and a leather jacket or blazer. This Unisex Viscose Sexuali-tank from American Apparel is a great addition, with it's slinky sheer fit, and basic color. The scooped neckline is flattering and the relaxed fit very forgiving. I plan on wearing this with my usual jeans/jacket uniform to class, and tucked into a form-fitting, bandage mini at night.

2. Leggings, leggings. Probably the most useful bottom staple other than jeans. The Cotton Spandex Jersey Leggings, from American Apparel come in every color in the rainbow. I opted for black, simple and will be worn countless times with boots this winter. While the $26 price tag might seem like a lot for leggings, AA's version is significantly more durable than say, my F21 pair, and with how much I wear them, the long lasting element is worth the money, plus they're thick enough that you won't get that sheer effect when you put them on (you know what I'm talking about).

3. Jumping on to Forever21, I snagged this panther ring when I was waiting in line to checkout. I like the animal element, it gives a little kick to the hand. For under six dollars, this ring is a great way to add a little somthin' somthin' to a nighttime outfit.

4. I restrained for awhile, but I had to go for this time; boyfriend jeans. Perhaps a hard style to pull off (you guys can let me know how I do), but I thought it was ok to test out the trend with a cheap pair from Forever21 rather than investing in a something actually nice. I plan on wearing these suckers with casual flats during the day, maybe with a boyfriend cardigan and simple shirt, and testing them out at night with a silk top and heels. ?. We'll see.

5. Another Forever21 item, this necklace is simple enough to wear with just about anything, and it has both silver and gold in it, so it will match with everything other metal jewelry item I own. See, multi-tasking!

6. Also from AA, this tie dye tank is made out of viscose, like his grey friend above, which if you don't know, is that incredible material that makes a tee feel like soft, light heaven. While some may think tie dye seems a bit summery, you don't know me very well. I'll be wearing this to class with jeans,and moccasin boots, and out at night with my latex leggings and dominatrix heels.

7. I am a huge fan of plaid shirts, and this Heritage dress fit the bill. It doesn't come across too well in this photo, but this dress will be a great fall item, worn with layers to class. The color is just punchy enough to keep it young without being dowdy. I plan on wearing this with tights and black boots, and a leather jacket. I promise country plaid can look chic. Just don't wear it with cowboy boots. Please.

8. Last but not least; the sequined mini. Ok, I know what you're thinking; I said I wasn't gonna spend money on something I will only wear once. But this skirt is different! If you didn't know, sequins are a hot commodity this season, and this skirt is the perfect way to get the trendy look at a low price. And surprisingly, I believe I will wear this a lot. While it is a fine line between trashy and cute, this skirt will need to be worn with caution. I will wear this skirt with a slouchy tee, (or one of the tanks I got), and a loose cardigan to go out. Yes, I wear sweaters when I go out. The key to keeping it cool and offbeat and not Wet Seal trash, is to keep the rest of the outfit very casual and un-sexy. It's all about the balance.
